April 6, 2010

The Board of Directors of Brown & Brown Inc. has elected C. Roy Bridges regional president responsible for most of the company’s retail operations in the western United States. He will continue to have regional oversight responsibility for certain offices in Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas.

J. Powell Brown, president and CEO, stated, “This action furthers our effort to continue to strengthen our retail presence in the West. Roy has served very effectively for nearly a decade as one of our regional executive vice presidents, and will provide leadership in our Western Retail area just as he has in our Florida and National Retail Divisions.”

Bridges has been with Brown & Brown since 1987, when the agency in which he was a principal was acquired. He has been promoted through several positions over the years and was elected as regional executive vice president in 2001. In his new position as regional president, Bridges will continue to be responsible for his current regional operations but will have an expanded role in further growing the company’s overall operations. Prior to undertaking his current duties, he served as profit center leader of the Tampa, Fla. retail office from 1998 to 2001, as profit center leader of our Ft. Myers, Fla. retail office from 1993 to 1998, and as profit center leader of our Brooksville, Fla. retail office. He has served on various regional and national insurance carriers’ advisory councils, and is a past board member of the Hernando County Committee of 100, the Salvation Army, and the Lee County Committee of 100, and a past member of Leadership Southwest Florida.
