Montana State Fund Decreasing Rates 4%

May 7, 2010

Montana State Fund said its workers’ compensation insurance rates are going down by an average of 4 percent.

The fund, which provides the insurance to more than 28,000 employers around the state, says the rate decrease will go into effect July 1.

However, the average decrease does not mean that everyone’s rates are going down.

State Fund says that rates determined by types of jobs, business classifications as well as loss history can vary. But the overall average rate will be decreasing.

Recent studies have shown that Montana’s workers’ compensation costs have traditionally been among the highest in the country.
