The death of this young aspiring junior lifeguard who was struck by the vessel she had jumped from in the Pacific Ocean is tragic. However the assertion of any and all defenses, including jurisdiction doesn’t seem “wasteful” to anyone but the plaintiff attorney. Surprised?

An 11 year old girl has no business receiving life guard training. She would certainly never get employment until she was at least 16 so why was she permitted to get involved at age 11?

I am wondering the same thing. An 11 year old lifeguard, or even jr. lifeguard? As the parent of two young adults, I remember them at age 11 and that is way too young to be a lifeguard, or even one in training.

California Junior Lifeguard Programs. Most CA beach cities participate. They start at age 8.

I always knew there was something in the Pacific coast air that prevented people in CA from using common sense. What’s with these people? A young girl age 11 training to be a lifeguard? Nonsense by any standard in any other state in the union. Sounds like the usual “beach” mentality. And not even a lifeguard in a freaking pool………but the Pacific Ocean.

I can certainly tell you that my 11 year old daughter would not be out in the Pacific Ocean jumping off a boat for training. What the hell is wrong with those parents. Take some responsibility for your stupidity!
