    start from the top
    1) the sun
    2) radio station broadcasts
    3) tv station broadcasts
    4) cable-tv satellite broadcasts that cover an area (aka a footprint)
    5) Microwave ovens
    6) CRT TVs & computer monitors.
    7) X-Ray & CT Scanners.
    8) insert source of any EM emitter
Need I go on? Cell phones are a lesser evil.

Where can I start a petition to recall all of the members of the Board of Stupid-visors????

First they tell us where we can and can’t smoke (I don’t smoke, but I don’t think “open spaces” should be prohibitive – OK folks, common courtesy would be the norm, here – especially you yuppies…didn’t your parents teach you any manners?????); then they tell us who can and can’t sell cigarettes (again, I don’t smoke but DO beleive in FREE ENERPRISE); why don’t they prohibit the pharmacies from selling candy? Just as dangerous as cigarettes!!! Then they make large grocery stores and pharmacies (think Safeway and Walgreens) do away with plastic bags…I am all in favor of a healthy living environment, but come on…..really????

I am totally aware that there are other problems in this beautiful City that need fixing before the above items are dealt with……this is our tax money at work???!!!!!….wonderful….Mr. Newsom, please DO something about this…Lieutenant Governor??? Not in MY book….if you can’t fix the City, how can you fix the State???

OK, everyone! Thanks for letting me vent! :)

Firstly, yes cell phones do emit radiation, that’s how they communicate with their towers.

Secondly, caffiend is absolutely right, we are bathed in natural radiation of all types all the time, more examples would be the ionizing radiation from naturally occurring radioactive materials in the environment, all the different types of radiation that flood the universe including us.

Numerous extensive scientific studies have time and time again found no correlation between cell phone use and any disorders, yet the nut cases continue.

radio waves is not radiation… first of all… if you really want to get technical, how many of us have gone to the doctor or emergency room and get an x-ray? do they tell us how much radiation we get there? afterall, don’t the technicians have a lead cloth or shield to protect them everytime they use those? has anyone labeled the sun to amount of radaiation we recieve from it? that be cute, it might block some of those rays or a few clouds if you have to have a big label. so it’s more labeling than that is required by the faa or food/drug admin, think companies will go to court over this one. more taxpayer dollars will be spent on lawyers and then it gets dropped and more money spent and then possibly san fran will ask the broken state for money, oops, they don’t have none to spare… so whose idea was this? i know, let’s take it out of their own salary.

    um… wudchuck, minor correction there.
Radio waves are a type of electromagnetic radiation.

The frequency and the wavelength tend to be fairly large (centimeters to meters).

What most people think of when the word radiation is used is the x-rays and gamma rays at the other end of the spectrum.

Hate to cite wikipedia but occasionally the info is good. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromagnetic_spectrum
