No problem. Just make sure they have private health insurance.

A previous comment on this subject mentioned that this move was no problem as long as the injured party had private insurance.

Not so ! Insurance premiums will go up due to costs of hospital ICU and long term trauma care. Next, health insurance companies will begin to discriminate against or worse, refuse to insure motorcyclists.

The solution: give mototcyclists the freedom to wear jet style helmets to improve hearing and peripheral vision. They already enjoy this right under the current law and they can even wear the worthless plastic salad bowls that pass for a helmet if they like, but leave the law in place. It’s as much for the protection of those who already wear helmets willingly as well as of those who would otherwise not.

This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Get on with it, helmets save lives and should be mandatet throughout the nation. You may as well suggest to ban motorcycles all together.

I agree motorcycles should be banned, along with horseback riding, mountain climbing, parachuting, all forms of racing, skateboarding, roller skating, mountain biking AND showering without non skid pads in tub or shower. Plus we ought to have prison terms for fat people, what a social cost they are! We MUST have more government intervention, how dare people even think they really have unalienable rights…what a bunch of buffoons. With all of the technology today who would have ever thought that one inch of old expandable Styrofoam would protect your brain from sudden impact, amazing. You know what I sick of? The false stats coming out of states that have removed helmet laws…those jerks have the audacity to show helmeted deaths are higher than non helmeted riders AND they are showing twice as many motorcycle accidents with helmeted over non helmeted. There are to be a law. Say, what really killed Dale Earnhardt anyway? Anybody seen America lately? I think I made a wrong turn somewhere
