They need to have an ELECTED INSURANCE COMMISSIONER this way you can get someone who will represent the consumer. The way it is now the insurance industry has a BIG SAY on who gets the position. The auto insurance rates are at lease 30 to 35 per cent to high in NV. NV. is a cash cow for the auto insurance industry.

Keep the insurance commissioner position appointed. Elected commissioners have a big downside in creating bloated departments that serve as campaign arenas for politicians. Just look at the California DOI website.

Few make money with Nevada Auto. The attorneys have too much power in Las Vegas. Nobody enforces the statutes of full disclosure.

TRUTH SAYER I douth YOU never have filled an auto ins. app. OUT in your life. Strickly a ins. co. man. I myself owned auto ins. agencies in CA. ID. & WA. When prop. 103 passed the insurance companies said this was the end of auto ins. for CA. some major players left the state, progressive was one, good old peter lewis, cut the agents commission to ” 1% ” so as to force the agents to rewrite the business to other ins. co’s. Traverlers left and many others went on MORATORIUM. SINCE THAT HAPPEN IT WAS THE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPEN FOR RESIDENCE OF CALIFORNIA. A ELECTED INS. COMM. TO REP. THE CONSUMER. RATES WHICH WITH THE SAME DEMOGRAPHICS 30 TO 35 PER CENT LOWER THEN NV. THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN IN NV. THE INSURANCE LOBBIES ARE TOO STRONG AND HAVE TOO MUCH MONEY TO PASS AROUND. WE HAVE OVER 2 MILLION REGISTERED VEHICLES, CAN YOU PICTURE THE AMOUNT OF MONEY EACH DRIVE WOULD SAVE, THIS COULD GO BACK INTO THE ECONOMY OF NEVADA, MORE JOBS, STRONGER TAX BASE AND MORE MONEY FOR EDUCATION!!!!! THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY IS NOT GOING TO GIVE UP THEIR CASH COW.

Proposition 103 did not lower premiums. The lower loss costs from court rulings lowered the rates. Proposition 103 actually has made rates in many areas higher than they should be. Rural areas in the state subsidize big cities.

Nevada’s challenges for Auto especially Southern Nevada are caused by legal system. Unfortunatley, the average cost per claim is much higher in Nevada. Late reporting of claims make it difficult for insurance companies to settle claims appropriately. You need legal reform and enforcement of those reforms.

California’s DOI is a big, unnecessary expense that does the public little good. The state is stuck with their huge pension costs.

Competition and legal reform are the key to lower auto rates. Right now the legal environment in Las Vegas is terrible.

The bloated Department of Insurance is just one of the reasons California government does not work. Although things are difficult in Nevada, California situation is dire.

Nevada’s pricing for auto insurance will not improve with more insurance regulation. You need to reform your legal system.

Please talk to claims people about the challenges they face in settling claims. Attorneys are allowed to report claims two years after the occurrence.

I am sorry but you are company people, you need to go to work in an independent auto insurance agency. This will show you how the real world works. All claims problem, NV. is no different, also the CA. dept. of insurance is not bloated. With all the PAC MONEY YOUR INDUSTRY PAYS OUT YOU THINK YOU WOULD GET MORE BANG FOR THE BUCK, the trial lawyers are out spending you.
