Having been shot 22 times I doubt the officers saw much point in providing First Aid. Likely all they had to do was just check to see if there was still a pulse.

I’m guessing when the Marine heard his front door being knocked down, he assumed the defensive posture (per his training, no doubt) to protect his home, thus arming himself with the rifle. Given the nature of the task at hand, it’s another presumption that the officers fired first on seeing the weapon before realizing they were probably at the wrong house…I say “presumption” because I wasn’t there, and am using deductive reasoning and common sense in reading what IJ has reported.
