Arizona Man Files Lawsuit Against LA Fitness

A Tempe, Ariz. man has filed a lawsuit against LA Fitness, claiming the fitness club depleted his bank account.

Benjamin Calleros told The Arizona Republic on Thursday that LA Fitness staff members used his electronic signature to charge him for more than $1,200 in services that he didn’t ask for.

The 22-year-old college student says the company fraudulently signed him up for a personal trainer. Calleros says he has lost money that was set aside for tuition.

LA Fitness officials in Arizona and at the company’s California headquarters have not responded to requests for comment.

A Phoenix attorney representing the company says they deny the allegations and plan to challenge the lawsuit in court.

Personal trainer Felix Mendiola is also named in the suit. Mendiola declined to comment.
