This just struck me the wrong way. Truthfully I will leave it at that, BUT, I will say that Kelly Ferris takes King Sooper/Dillon’s to court and slaps them with a judgement that is liable to change the stigma of Mental Illness in this country….Praying for you Kelly
I am very sympathetic to anyone with a debilitating illness, however if she cannot do the job after four months off, the company has the right to replace her.
I too sympathize with the employee as these type of mental disorders can be difficult to control and require strict medication management and adjusments/tweeking to find the right combo…However, after 4+ mos away she should have been able; assuming she was getting proper professional help to find the right meds and get her symptoms back under control…Me thinks she was doing a little cheating by not taking her meds or simply failing to follow proper professional protocol in managing her disease…Just another thought
I am not a doctor by any means, but I had two close friends with this disorder and both are dead. One by shooting herself in the head for her husband to find and the other stepped into traffic intentionally. The one that shot herself was fired from an insurance position in Chatanooga Tenn. and the other was homeless because of this illness. Medication apparently works, but the side effects from what I understand are maybe as bad as the illness. As all illness in this country, before we make opinions about them, we should probably try to understand them. Everyone is correct about the time spent away from her job and the law but I wonder if Insurance Journel will print if she kills herself.
Just my opinion!
