this made no sense to me when I heard about it, why would a US citizen, and mother of 5 flee the border patrol? then I found this….from the local newspaper in chula vista…
“Court records show Tachiquin-Alvarado was charged with a misdemeanor of being under the influence of a controlled substance in 2000. The case was dismissed in 2003 after Tachiquin-Alvarado completed a court-ordered, first-time drug offender program.
In 2004, Tachiquin-Alvarado was charged with a narcotics felony and pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance. She received jail time and three years probation, records show.
Then, in 2011, Tachiquin-Alvarado was convicted of possession of paraphernalia used for narcotics, a misdemeanor, and received three years probation.”
Same article explained the Border Patrol was there to arrest and deport an undocumented guest due to drug trafficking charges, a crime he had been deported for in prior years..
The only thing these agent knew was that a nice looking latina was leaving alone and they had not had the opurtunity to talk to her. (They had no right to detain her or talk to her and she had no responsibility to talk to them.) Under 8 cfr 287 she was protected from harassment.
