California Regulators Probe CVS Drug Refills Policy

    On a plan sponsored by the state, this past year we had a pharmacy cahnge to CVS Caremark. It’s been confusing, annoying and a pain to get all of our RX info to them and set back up to automatically fill the every 90 days as we did with MEDCO (with whom we had zero issues with)It hasn’t been a fun. Here we are in October and we are just now getting everything straight. BUT, I will say, prior to getting any RX set up to auto-refill, we had to ask them to do so online,AND prior to each refill it sent an email giving a 10 day window to cancel the order. I doubt this claim has any validity. I would guess it stems from a slightly user unfriendly online ordering process and internet illiterate users clicking a button they later did not recall doing. Just my thought on that!

    CVS has automatically refilled my prescriptions more than once in the past 6 months. I didn’t go online to ask them to refill, nor did I call it in like I normally would. I quit using them after the second go round.

      Same here in Florida. I never asked for refills and they have called me twice in the past 2 days to tell me it’s ready to be picked up!

    I’ve been unhappy with my local CVS pharmacy’s awful, mixed up service for a couple of years. And yes, I also experienced them putting a few of prescriptions on auto-fill that I did not request or approve. If they weren’t conveniently located down the block from me I would have been out of there by now. Glad they are being investigated. They are a mess! I miss Longs Drugs!!!
