basic principle of firearm use/handling: never point it in any direction that might cause injury should it misfire.
why would he have been pointing it at his body when he slipped the safety off?
I am very familiar with using firearms and I can’t imagine how you can have the rifle pointed at your leg when you push the safety off.
Bob- I think that it was his brother, Mark, that was trying to get the safety off and he shot Loren in the leg. I agree, must use your sense and never have a weapon pointed in a direction that might cause injury…not so much brotherly love there :) Have a great day!
