    Call it what you want, but it’s a taxi service, whether you call them on the phone or connect via a mobile device they are still providing taxi service. Lyft’s business model appears to ignore that fact, and doesn’t want to be regulated.

      So what? Why should we care what it’s called? What is so wrong with willing suppliers making voluntary exchanges with willing consumers? If there are issues with safety or insurance, the market – the most effective regulator on earth – will work them out.
      These companies are literally a breath of fresh air, and I can’t wait to see them put the politically-connected cab companies and their stinky crapmobiles out of business.
      It’s hilarious to watch politicians and crony cabbies freaking out about this in one city after another. But sad at the same time to see how little Americans value and understand economic liberty.
