as I read the first paragraph, I immediately thought that the dirt bag attorney that was willing to represent this guy should be disbarred.
then I see he is in the slammer and representing himself. add another 100 years to his sentence.
this is a continuous problem everywhere – prisoners representing themselves and filing frivolous lawsuits. how do we stop it and still allow the truly “wronged” (?) prisoner to be fairly heard?
there should be a review system where these frivolous cases don’t cost the defendant and can be dismissed before huge expenses are incurred.
Maybe that’s it, actually – the losing party should be responsible for compensation of any incurred legal costs of the other party (within limits, certainly). Obviously there are challenges making sure people don’t accrue bills they can’t or won’t ever pay, but at least it might make people think twice.
It’s no problem at all if we had speedy justice. It takes about five minutes or less to read it, and think about it, and one minute to reply: case dismissed!
