So does MSHA have any responsibility here, considering that they had already been monitoring the mi’ne for several months when these miners died? I’m sure out of ‘the 92 “significant and substantial” violations along with the 6 “flagrant” and 8 “unwarrantable” violations that some were discovered prior to these needless and preventable fatalities. If the MSHA examiners were witnessing poor and dangerous working conditions, why didn’t they shut the damn mine down before these men lost their lives???
