“Oregon Helmets Now Commonplace on Oregon Slopes”

Why are they called Oregon Helmets? I’ll have to check mine to see if it’s the real thing or just an Idaho ripoff…

By the article title, I thought this would be about ski helmets featuring University of Oregon football helmet graphics, given UofO’s FB team success and national visibility. Even though that’s not the message, it is still a worthy article. I’ve always skied without a helmet, but this changes my perspective.

I didn’t like it years ago when organized rides and tours mandated helmet use by participating cyclists. Now I wouldn’t ride without one.

Helmets are important safety equipment for skiers and snowboarders too, particularly in heavily treed areas.
