Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey has vetoed a bill that would have banned law enforcement agencies from establishing traffic ticket quotas for their officers.
Ducey says he vetoed House Bill 2410 Monday because it might have hindered chiefs’ ability to affectively gauge officers’ performance.
The Republican governor pointed out that no police agency is the state appears to be using quotas now. But he said he agrees with proponents who don’t want to see them in the future.
Ducey said he’s open to considering future legislation that addresses the issue while allowing chiefs to manage their officers.
