Add a year of confinement for everyday the restitution is not received? Lol you guys both sound stupid with the comments about the restitution. Restitution is either paid off in full if the person has the means to pay it and is pretty much just taken by the government, the person is basically forced to forfeit their assets or liens are held against any properties owned etc… other than that this dude will have to pay the restitution monthly for up to 20+ years and the monthly amount is a % which is determined by the judge at sentencing. So if he doesnt own anything of any real value, he will have to pay X% of his gross income every month.
Besides that, why should he never get out for hacking into this company, or any other place for that matter? If anything, he pointed out that your information and other valuable information was insecure by the company that has it! It may be his fault for information being leaked to the public, but its far from his fault that the company was so incompetent to not have their servers secured for the incident to even occur in the first place. I laugh when I read comments such as these.. Maybe these big corporate entities and government networks need to pay more attention to their security so these things dont even happen in the first place.
I see comments like these all over the place… “LET THE GUY ROT IN JAIL FOR HACKING FARMERS INSURANCE! HE LEAKED SO MUCH INFO!”, it would be better to say “THESE STUPID COMPANIES ARE NOT CAREFUL WITH OUR INFORMATION AND FALL VICTIM TO ATTACKS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED FROM THE BEGINNING! WHY AM I PAYING THIS COMPANY TO INSURE ME WHEN THEY CANNOT EVEN PROTECT MY INFORMATION!”
At least now I know not to use a company such as Farmers, because they obviously have BS security and cannot protect its customers. If it weren’t for hackers, we wouldn’t even know that these multi-million dollar companies are so insecure and stupid basic kiddie attacks can take place when they shouldn’t. Blame the company before blaming the person, If the company had done things right, this wouldnt be an issue, and the idiot that hacked them wouldnt even be going to prison because he wouldnt have had the opportunity to get any information. BUT, thats just my opinion on this..
