To attribute conflicts of interest only to money motivation is so simplistic and lame. People are motivated by all sorts of things, including access to power, fame, sex, ego needs, future employment opportunities, etc. etc. . . .
I would RATHER have a billionaire in office. Money would be less of a corrupting influence for a billionaire than it would be for some poor fool using the Insurance Commissioner job to “solve” Climate Change in order to impress his lefty buddies on how pure is his religion.
Dave Jones and Chuck Quackenbush are the most disgusting insurance commissioners in the history of California, so Steve Poizner would be significant improvement. Jones uses every incident as a political opportunity at the expense of the people of California. He has kept insurance companies out of the state, perhaps because they didn’t do any political favor for him. Queckenbush was forced to resign, however the current California is more tolerant of corrupt politicians and that is why those like Jones can thrive.
