Awesome. Your next door neighbor is going to get a scary letter from the government telling him to stop growing pot in his garage.

That ought to do the trick! No more black market! (Your neighbor should just love legalization, no?)

Wait, why didn’t they think of scary letters BEFORE they legalized “recreational” pot? Are they only doing it now to protect Big Marijuana? You mean, government is working to protect big business once again by putting the little guy out of business?

This is going exactly as to be expected for anyone who doesn’t get high.

Corect Craig. Dysfunctional California strikes again. By the way, Cannabis growers are feeling better now that John Boehner, former Speaker of the House has joined the board of a big weed grower on the ruse it is for medicinal purposes.

If the black market has shifted from cartels and organized crime to some small time people that can be shut down individually or spooked by sternly worded letters I think that’s definitely a success in reducing the black market.

Apparently, you don’t know your Cartel history.

When states began legalizing marijuana in the USA, many marijuana fields in Mexico went fallow. So far, so good.

But being good business people, the Cartels decided not to go out of business and they changed their game. They hired experts in heroin, started growing poppies, and then produced super-potent, super-cheap heroin to take advantage of oxycotin users in the USA. Oxy cost about $80 per hit, so how about $5. per hit. And wham, a huge new addiction boom in the USA.

Brand new customers, a huge new market, and much deadlier product.

Congratulations! You pot fans got another one right! The Black Market is gone.
(Not that you ever want to take a bow.)

Does it follow that making heroin (more) legal would again make the poppy fields in Mexico go fallow, at least until they find the next best thing to grow?

Yes, of course. Do you want to make heroin legal?

Organized crime took advantage of Prohibition until alcohol was legalized. Then they moved on to cocaine and heroin.

Why are you surprised that the same thing happened with the Cartels? (You should be embarrassed or mad at your news sources that they tricked you with the “end of the black market” nonsense.)

Today, there is sex trafficking, loan sharking, extortion, child prostitution, murder for hire, counterfeit goods, illegal gun sales, money laundering and a whole host of other crimes. Want to make those legal next? (I mean in order to “end the Black Market”.)

I say make all drugs legal. Regulate and tax them and use that money to educate people on the dangers should they choose to imbibe. People have no idea how many functioning marijuana, heroin, and other narcotic users are in our community, including professionals in all walks of life. I am close friends with several law enforcement officers including 2 in the DEA.

Who’s buying Oxy at $80 a hit? Pill Mills, doctors, and pharmacists are keeping the narcotic addiction in line.

BTW, are you agreeing that the legalization of marijuana in one of the country’s biggest markets has had a significant effect on Mexican Cartels, and reduced the illegal marijuana coming from Mexico?

I said “many marijuana fields went fallow . .”

What do you think I said.

Are you in favor of heroin addiction in place of marijuana sales? Because that’s what legalized marijuana in the US accomplished; Cartels simply shifted into heroin. And once again, congratulations on being right all the time.
