Interesting. Does this mean that Aaron Rogers or Payton Manning need an insurance license for pushing State Farm and Nationwide on commercials?

Yes, how is what the NRA doing different than a TV ad or print ad by AllState featuring Mayhem or Liberty Mutual featuring actors telling you why to buy their auto insurance?

It is the organization which requires the License, not the spokesperson.

Thank God, someone who knows what they are speaking of before speaking. Observer and Jack King, you work in insurance, right?

The NRA can be considered to be a spokesman. Ask anyone how AARP advertises various types of insurance.
Regardless, the end result is that the NRA could obtain a license. Problem that doesn’t exist is solved.

“The NRA can be considered to be a spokesman.” It is statement like these that make us question your credibility. Organizations use spokespeople because organizations are not people and cannot speak.

How is it different? It’s completely different. It would be like your group client replacing the insurance company name on the application with their name for all their employees. Your client isn’t licensed to sell insurance so they shouldn’t be representing themselves as such. That’s basic insurance regulation.

The Mayhem/Peyton Manning example isn’t even close to comparison, because Mayhem/Manning aren’t plastered on the application/filed forms your clients fill out. If they were there, in place of the company name and it didn’t match what was filed with the state, that would be the same situation.

Wrong. Peyton Manning isn’t underwriting the coverage, and neither is a duck or lizard, yet they all appear on literature sent by / televised by/ broadcast by insurers. The actual application is separate from the TV ads, radio ads, mailers, so there is no distinction here other than Dave Jones’ bias against Amendment II as a means of political campaign fund support. He is using his office for political gain when the proper action is to send an application to the NRA. I doubt he wants them to be licensed … he wants them to be outlawed. We ALL know the underlying purpose of his action, and posting all of your ‘reasoning’ won’t conceal it.

Are you people really in the insurance field or is your knee jerk reaction purely political?
Peyton Manning isn’t putting out the commercial and discussing coverage, Nationwide is. It’s not marketed as Peyton Manning insurance. Since the NRA isn’t underwriting the coverage then they aren’t allowed to solicit per CA rules. It’s pretty simple. It’s like any affiliated program, the underwriting company sends out the solicitations. CA does this type of action all the time, you only pay attention apparently when your feelings get hurt.

So see-through. If the CDI was really concerned about “selling without a license”, it could have simply called the NRA and asked that they obtain one. As mentioned, it ain’t hard. Just look at all the geniuses who take the licensing exam. Looks like a homeless meeting gone inside for a change.

Nope. This is the same Dave Jones-run California Department of Insurance, spending it’s time pushing the PC nonsense. Marijuana insurance!!!! Crisis for Dave! Climate Change! Force the insurers to divest from fossil fuel investing! It’s critical for California insurance buyers! And now this.

So see through. Next up. Dave pushes Transgender surgery insurance. . .

Unless the NRA is actually the ‘Insurance Company’, then they are acting as a front and the coverage is written on someone else’s paper. That someone should have to make their filings in the state. If the NRA is actually acting as the carrier of record, then they would have to file with the state and any person they use to solicit is immaterial.

My best guess is that this ‘shake down’ is nothing but a political statement and a money grab. Premiums for policies sold in CA would be taxed, probably as Surplus lines. The issue sure isn’t about the coverage being offered.

The people need to make a change in California. If they don’t, they get what they get. Those who value their Constitutional Rights need to come together and start changing things. Or, they can move to another state and let those who want to live as helpless victims do so in peace! I wouldn’t live in California if they gave me the best property in the state. Those people don’t even know how to make sweet tea for goodness sake! You know that they can’t be right in the head…..

I am in California, Commissioner Dave Jones is as scumbag as one comes. He is dirty to now end and very true from the first reply, the agency that is selling this has insurance and the NRA just like other sponsors don’t need a license. Essentially much of Democrat Party as lof late needs to stoop down to this level because they are losers and this is what losers do.

Ed McMahon (Jonny Carson sidekick) had to get his license for his insurance adverts.
