Well Craig, this is a report simply noting the economic numbers from the sale of the substance. This article doesn’t take a pro or con position, it is simply stating economic fact. What in the title led you to believe otherwise? Why were you misled into believing this article was going to talk about the safety aspects? Or, are you just on your crusade again?

Who cares about abstract sales numbers that leave out sales in the black market? What does this actually mean to you or me or any insurance broker in Colorado? nothing.

And printing this pointless article proves my point: IJ has completely avoided the massive and growing evidence of the dangers of THC.

Except driving dangers. Selective editing by IJ. Just like on Climate Change: the only articles IJ reprints are the Scary Monster articles. Articles that cast any doubt about what we know – articles printed in reputable science journals like Nature – well IJ doesn’t have room on their server for those stories, somehow. And there are LOTS of those stories.

“Who cares about abstract sales numbers that leave out sales in the black market?”

Prey tell Craig – how do you determine how much was spent on the Black Market for marijuana? Do dealers submit reports to agencies stating how much was sold and for how much? Are there surveys asking dealers what their Black Market income was for last quarter?

Ask the State of California, wise guy. They simply reported that legal sales from 2017 to 2018 went down. Yep. Down.

What changed? Only medi-pot was legal in 2017. And everybody knows consumption went way up in 2018 in California. All you had to do was look at the bars, where vaping pot was all the rage.

But I thought you geniuses said legalized recre-pot would shrink the black market? Lower youth consumption? Create more demand for regulated pot because it would be safe and clean and reliable and cool?

Were you Pot Fans right about anything?

Plenty care about the legal Colorado sales. Especially other insurance commissioners in states who are considering legalizing the substance. Other employers, other producers – hell, a representation of the entire population of a state cares. It’s you who doesn’t seem to care, so why do you keep up this crusade? The black market doesn’t buy insurance. The massive collapse in trust in the media? This comes from a guy who has been watching Faux Newz for how long? Who can literally recite Hannity and El Rushbo. Your criticism of Andrew and this article doesn’t smoke the admiral’s pipe, Craig.

helpingout: Your presumptions are embarrassing: I have never mentioned my son on this or any other site. People without the guts to post using their real name searched my history and found the information and then posted insults. And Andrew did not delete them! What a guy!.

And yes, people have insulted my son. Don’t pretend you know what you don’t.
    Have some integrity.

Posting here to try and get us back on topic (off-topic posts can continue to be posted above, as I did earlier today)

Sales averaged out to roughly $1.5B a year, but most banks won’t accept money legally obtained from the sale of marijuana. I wonder where all that money went to be kept safe. Are there billions in cash “hidden” under people’s mattresses?

You already answered your off-topic question: “most banks” means some banks do accept pot cash. Duh.

I didn’t want to use hyperbole, but since you’re so confident about that some banks do, please list the names of banks which accept deposits from marijuana businesses.

You AND the article both stated that “most” banks won’t deal with pot heads. So you tell me what the problem really is. I just pointed out the ludicrousness of your post and the fact that banking has just as much to do with marijuana sales (the article’s focus) as does mental illness or addiction or car crashes or any other issue related to pot. The more sales, the more problems.

“You AND the article both stated that “most” banks won’t deal with pot heads”

While you are wrong (the article said nothing about banking), I guess you’re no longer claiming my post was off-topic. Moving on…

“So you tell me what the problem really is”

Okay, the problem is banks mostly follow Federal laws and are concerned they’d be hit for, among other things, running afoul of our money laundering laws by accepting marijuana business money.

This means a vast majority of people who follow state law by legally cultivating and selling marijuana cannot open a bank account for their business. This leads to businesses operating on a cash-only basis, which makes them targets for robberies.

I hope that helps explain what I was getting at with my post. If not, please feel free to reply honestly and respectfully and I’ll be glad to try explaining it to you another way.

Hey Jerry, Frankie called, he says relax. And next time you want to personally attack someone with crude remarks about their deceased family member all because you don’t like how they disagreed with a comment you made on an insurance journal website article, (ready for the punch line?) don’t do it.

Take a step back, look at the situation as a whole.. do you really feel good about what you said?
