Brit Global Specialty USA Adds Swiss Re’s Zillgitt, Redstone’s Magee

Brit Global Specialty USA has named Garick Zillgitt as vice president, Primary General Liability, and Justin Magee as vice president, Excess Casualty.

Zillgitt and Magee will both be based in California in Walnut Creek and Los Angeles respectively.

Zillgitt will report to Mark Richards, senior vice president, General Liability, and Magee to Jon Liening, senior vice president, Excess Casualty.

The two appointments represent a strengthening of BGSU’s Casualty portfolio, led by Doug Trainor, executive vice president, Casualty.

Zillgitt brings 35 years of underwriting experience across various casualty classes. He joins from Swiss Re where he was vice president, responsible for western region territory wholesale produced E&S Casualty business. Prior to this, he spent five years at Rockhill Insurance Co., where he developed and launched the general liability E&S business and led the sale of the surety team to AmTrust. Before joining Rockhill, Zillgitt wrote casualty for QBE Americas, Fireman’s Fund and held roles at brokers Guy Carpenter and Benfield.

Magee joins BSGU from Redstone Underwriters, where he was a senior vice president, focussed on contractors’ general liability. He has also held senior casualty underwriting roles at Pioneer Programs Insurance Solutions and Ironshore Insurance. He started his career at Lexington Insurance, underwriting construction risk.
