California Mother, Son Arrested for Fraud Involving Aston Martin

Ahmad Haris Tajyar, 45, and his mother, Malalay Tajyar, 70, both of Porter Ranch, Calif., were arrested on one felony count of insurance fraud each after allegedly filing a false auto insurance claim and making fraudulent statements in order to receive nearly $70,000 in coverage for damage to their vehicle.

On July 9, 2018, Ahmand Tajyar reportedly filed a claim in which both he and his mother stated their 2016 Aston Martin Vantage was hit while parked and unoccupied earlier that day.

An investigation by the California Department of Insurance revealed the Aston Martin Vantage was actually involved in a previous accident on Feb. 15, 2018. The Tajyar’s previous insurance carrier denied the claim because the Aston Martin Vantage was never listed on their insurance policy.

After obtaining a policy with another insurance company, Ahmad Tajyar filed the false claim. Both Ahmad Tajyar and his mother reportedly made fraudulent statements to the insurance company in an attempt to receive coverage for the damages. The department’s investigation prevented a potential $69,541 loss to the insurance company for vehicle repairs.

They were arrested on Jan.11, and are scheduled to be arraigned on July 6. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting this case.
