There are some really interesting fact-findings here, some which make me cringe when I think about what it all means to the end-user, the customer paying for their windshield. Why the insurance industry hasn’t expanded their “Crack Repair Criteria” to twelve-inches leaves a clouded question mark above my head (actually, I think we can all figure that out). Thank you for extrapolating all this information. It’s been 15+ years since posted, but I believe it is still quite relevant to this day. I certainly appreciate the stats along with the references.
I love how nothing has changed, every crack I have ever had has been an edge crack. I had safelite come out today and they told me it was not under warranty as it was a rock chip. I assured them it, it was a defect. I love how they claim they have a lifetime warranty, but it excludes that obvious defect that they bet on for their exclusionary practice. I will be voting for Biden this year.
