GL classification description / Landscaping

Looking for someone that might have insight or access to SCOPES with detailed description for landscaping classification. Wondering if the sprinklers and or drip system payroll is part of the landscape class or if it needs to be rated separately as plumbing. Plumbing rate is much higher because of e...

Re: ACA/ObamaCare Open Enrollment 2015

Everything to do with health insurance carriers and ACA seems like it takes several months. It's all a Cluster. It can take the carrier 60-90 days to issue the policy which means 90-120 days to pay commission. And then the agency might not reconcile for another 30 days. Have you asked the agency if ...

Intro to Insurance courses - New employee

Does anyone use SCIC/CIC online courses for new employees? They have some online intro classes for $30. I have a new employee/admin asst that I want to start down the path of CSR for personal lines. What other options have you used for online classes. I don't have the resources in house to train her...

Re: Workers comp ghost policy

Just because your insured says his 1099 helper is not an employee doesn't make it so.

Unless that helper has his own coverage and provides an insurance certificate he will be covered by the work comp policy.

gregcw - I would disagree that it is illegal based on what you posted. " You may not engage in any practice that would lead a consumer to believe that an extension of credit, in violation of section 106(b) of the Bank Holding Company Act Amendments of 1970 (12 U.S.C. 1972), is conditional upon...

www.appund.com sucks and would pay even less commission than any direct appointment. How would that help?

Re: Insurance companies gouging agents.

Find a nice regional carrier that wants to actually be a partner with its agents. Cincinnati Insurance and Auto-Owners have both publicly stated that they will NOT compete against their own agents. No direct channels, independent agents only. I don't think AO is in CA yet, and Cincinnati is heading ...

Re: Single Level Apartment Building in Shambles

I would try to talk him in to self-insuring. It doesn't make sense for an insurance company or for a property owner to insure. If it's not worth it to him to repair the property, would he even rebuild anyway?

. . . but I would like to retain the book I've worked so hard to build.. . . Do you own that book you've worked so hard to build? If not, it's not yours. The agency has also worked very hard to build their business and give you the best opportunity to make a living. Doesn't your contract spell out ...

Go to the most recent best practices study: http://bp.reaganconsulting.com/bp2014/intro.html Click on the tab at the top for the expected revenue for the agency. (under 1.25m or 1.25m to 2.5m (3000 accounts x $3,000 average premium for a home and auto X .125 for 12.5% average commission or adjust yo...

Safeco does not sell direct? Maybe you've heard of their little parent company Liberty Mutual.
