Re: Responsibility to inform non AI entity

Where's the language in the policy that gives an additional insured (presuming one were named) a right to receive notice of cancellation? The last time I looked, the insurer is required to provide such notice only to the First Named Insured. This question never received an answer, as far as I saw, ...

Trusts & LLC's

I think there might be more than one issue here....if a residential property is transferred into the typical living trust, I find it hard to believe a carrier would deny a claim for that. However, if the ownership of the home is transferred to an LLC, I could see a case for that, as the LLC could be...

Class codes

I can't speak to the work comp question, as I have no expertise in that area. With regards to the GL issue, the bookeeper is incorrect if she is not using the Installation code. This is a huge issue, ESPECIALLY if you are (a) in California, and (b) they are installing these products in a New Residen...

The potential problem here is that the agent gave incorrect information regarding the Additional insured. Had he correctly requested the endorsement from the carrier, this wouldn't be a question. However, the Agent told the property manager it wasn't required. This is not true. Thus, as the agent di...

ISO Form

The new ISO form contains AI wording? I don't remember that happening. If the ISO form doesn't have the AI wording, then an AI endorsement should have been issued. This gives the AI notice of cancellation. I am unsure where in the ISO form you are finding AI wording....could you enlighten me? Thanks!

House flipping

Interesting. A dwelling fire with OLT isn't the proper way to cover this, the OLT portion isn't intended to cover exposures from contractors. But since the clients are not licensed contractors, I don't know who would be willing to provide Property in the COC or the liability for the COC. Good luck.

This happens ALL the time? I don't know that many retail agents who can afford to go around spending thousands of dollars on products just to secure the insurance....maybe it happens once in a while, but don't think it's very common at all. I have been in the biz a long time, and worked for a pretty...

Let licenses lapse?

In the beginning of this thread, someone mentions they may let their Life and Variable annuity licenses expire. While I understand you may not be focused on writing Life right now, you may as well renew the licenses. It's a bigger problem to need them and not have them, don't you think?

Pandemic coverage

You would think this would be a hot topic, but I suspect you'll find it is not. Much like Earthquake coverage in California, while the insured might think it's a good idea in theory, when presented with premiums commensurate with the risk, they will pass. We offer a Food Borne Illness program for re...

If your producer is willing to lie to you to gain a job, how much is she willing to lie to an underwriter to get an account? Whether she smokes the ganga, or drinks martinis, or smokes cigarettes isnt an issue. She lied on her job application, she continues to lie by using a designation she has not ...

Off Site work for a wrap

Seeking some insight specific to the new Residential construction market for projects in California.... I have a retailer who is telling me that American Safety and Evanston allow coverage for off-site work covered in a Wrap. She further advises they allow issuance of certificates of insurance inclu...

Yes, agree that your firm is not actually building the condos. However, they are involved in the construction of the condos, as they provide the engineering and drawings. But that's not really my point...my point is that if your client's work in any way touches a Condo project, your policy must allo...

As a wholesaler, I hear this all the time....'my client is unhappy with XYZ Carrier and wants to move....". Now, why would an insured have issues with their carrier? Only 2 reasons I can think of....the coverage isn't what they were promised(bad retailer or wholesaler), or they had a claim that...
