Re: Looking at Farmer's

Be very careful to check out the terms of the contract you will be signing. What is the minimum number of policies you need to write before your book starts earning (YOU) commissions? How long do you have to get there? If your taking over a book, do you have a certified audit of policies in force? (...

Re: Applied's Epic vs AMS360

I received this in my inbox but the person would not post directly: I didn't want to post pubically as I work for Applied and didn't want to taint peoples opinion, but I assure you this is 100% new without one line of code coming from TAM or Vision. It runs in a rich client enviroment either thick o...

Re: Applied's Epic vs AMS360

Hmm, From a technology standpoint, I see Epic as a step back into the past. Both AMS and Nexsure have the latest version of product in a web environment. Epic seems to be an installed software with all of the issues and problems we have become accustomed to with installed software for the past 20 ye...

Re: Sweep Accounts for Commissions Also?

We will make a provision for the agents to have a separate account to do commissions.

Thank you for the help!

Sweep Accounts for Commissions Also?

We are setting up sweep accounts in a number of states. Companies sweep premiums collected by agents directly into a company account from the agent account. Some agents would like for the companies to sweep commissions back the same way. An issue was raised that perhaps a sweep account cannot be use...

Re: It was the best of times, it was the worst of times

Good news for independent agents... The HARD MARKET is coming! Reinsurance rates for large captives are going up significantly. These companies have suffered losses from storms and the stock market as well. Many large captives are facing a situation where they may make 0% on their investments for 20...

Re: Risk Retention Groups & Reinsurance

I think you would have to have access to the reinsurance contracts to know the answer. The contracts spell out responsibility and I don't recall seeing anything about insolvency in any contract. That would mean that the reinsurance companies would only be responsible for the same losses regardless.....

Re: The SEC and insurance business

I don't think this is a surprise to anyone. The big dog companies want to grease the palms of one set of legislators and lobbyists as opposed to 50. Its easier to control the marketplace, get filings, etc in place, and thwart state controls that are an extension of the will of the people. Anyone who...

Re: WHO TAKES CASH AND DOES NOT REQUIRE MONEY ORDERS?

I think it comes down to your business. Are you a retail agency serving consumers or business? If your serving consumers, then its pretty obvious that your going to get walkins with cash. I see walkins monthly paying their auto/home insurance because they don't have a checking account. I think the q...

Re: Nexsure vs AMS 360

CSRQueen, I think that you may be experiencing a bug. Nexsure should be able to help you resolve this. A simple DOS 'tracert' command should tell you if the slowness is your network and its connection or at Nexsure. If you can't get Nexsure to help you, I can over the phone, it only takes a couple o...

Re: Insurance rating software

I would like to respond to Steve Anderson's quote The traditional process of a vendor calculating rates for multiple companies (called manufactured rates) and displaying them for agents no longer works primarily due to credit scoring. This model has been changing for several years but it does work w...

I would check out http://www.sugarcrm.com first. Cost is $75/month per user and look at all the stuff it does! We actually use this inhouse and I would recommend it. Re: Agency Fee

We see this commonly used in the midwest, Ok, Ar, Mo, Ill, Ks, etc. Agents are particularily interested in recouping time and gas spent photographing property that is farther than a set limit say outside the local county or city or over 10 miles from the office. We have seen no issues with this as t...

Cameron Central Mutual 660-747-6166
Hickory County Mutual 417-745-6722

And, they both have a Missouri online comparative rating/application system.
