Re: I was hired as CSR; now owner demands I be a producer
Could be that the owner is a little lost and floundering around a bit. If you like working there otherwise, you might try being assertive by defining a position that makes sense for the agency and that you would like. Then simply tell him this is what you want to do, this is why it makes sense and t...

Re: Hartford School of Insurance
I just sent two of my new CSRs through this program. They both did the virtual calssroom (online) version and I think it is the bet one being offered by any company. It is very neutral and really gets into the coverages. Some of the other companies training tools are either too company specific, are...

Re: How to divide work to customer service reps
One of our offices is similar in size and personnel. We have one CSR who handles only PL, one CSR who handles the larger CL accounts, and the 3rd CSR handles some of the PL book as well as some of the smaller CL accounts. The CL CSR is the highest paid of the 3, while the other two are in the saem r...

Certificates of Insurance ???
We have a healthy debate going here as to whether or not you should send out the supporting forms with certificates of insurance. Some of us send out the Additional Insured endorsement, the form that gives them Waiver of Subrogation, or any other form that may be relevent to the particular certifica...

What is most fullfilling as an agent?
In response to the previous question of "what is your biggest pain as an agent?", I 'm curious what kind of response this question will get.

They are notified by the direct bill insurer. So there is no way they can claim that they weren't told.

Re: Can an employer fire an employee because their pre-convi
Lying on a job application could be. Was the employee asked about past problems with the law? If the employer knew about troubles in the employees past and still hired them, then I'd say that simply seeing a photo posted on line would not be grounds for firing.

Used car seats? Good luck finding any underwriter who would write this. You will likley have to go to surplus lines for a policy that excludes products liability.

That's nice, be we are "insurance salespeople", which unfortunately is still seen by many as a closely related to used car salesmen. The answer we give is "We are constantly keeping our eye on the insurance marketplace and if a new opportunity comes up that might be a fit for you we w...

Hi Alaina, I think what is confusing you is that this about Liability coverage, and they are saying that if you damage your own property, then you can't hold yourself liable.

Re: WC for Companies with 0 Employees
I do not know the regulations in PA but can tell you that in VT there is a mechanism that allows corporations and LLCs with no employees to be excluded from the requirement of carrying WC coverage. See the form at the other end of this link. www.labor.vermont.gov/Portals/0/WC/Form29.pdf A copy of th...

Re: CPCU 510 woes
I just received my CPCU a few months ago and have spent the last 3 years studying away. Since you've already read the book, I would concentrate on the SMART test. The book contains much more info than what you are tested on. The SMART tests give a really good taste of the actual test and the types o...
