Gas stations are not big revenue generators on one station. But, each one you write is a referral to get you into the next one, and a lot of them own more than one station. It's a very easy class of business to write and a good starting point.

If you go with a smaller local agency that is experienced in the type of accounts you want to write you'll be much better off. You'll get a bigger split on commission, you won't be squeezed dry and then thrown out by the big guys that really don't care about you and get to keep your business anyway....

A certificate of insurance means nothing except what is read into it. Always attach the supporting endorsements as they show the exact cover extended from the policy AND they cover your butt in case of a claim.

I see this stuff ALL THE TIME. I review someone's policies, point out all the things they aren't covered for that they think they're covered for, how they're lowballed with the receipts 1/4 what they should be and policy is subject to audit, they're in an E&S market when they can be in a standar...

I only do a BOR if I get them to complete a new application to go with it, along with copies of their current policies. I don;t process it unless I know any problems and fix them before it's my problem.
