I don't force my customers to do anything. I just quote the same limits for um as bi. If they ask about it I ask them why would you give somebody, that you don't know, more coverage than yourself. Only one time did someone still want the lower limits but once I broke out the UM form, for him to sign...

I just write the same limits on UM as BI so I don't have to get the form signed. I don't give the customer the option. The price is not that big of a difference anyway.

The developer agreed to the fee to begin with and paid it. Why does he want it back now?

Question 1) The DOI does not care if you are sole proprietor. You will just operate your business under the name that is on your insurance license. You will need a $10k bond. Carries will require the E & O. This insurance should be one of the first things you look into. The cost of it mite detou...

I think diversifying is a good long term goal however, when you are new you want to limit your focus like to only personal lines for example. You don't want to be a jack of all trades and not be really good at anything. If you concentrate only on auto and home and produce a lot of business you shoul...

High performance car insurance

I need insurance for a client who takes his high performance sports car to a race track once a month. Is there any companies that will write this.

I see this happen all the time. That is why their rates are so high. I have told clients with similar situations that you mention to check around because we don't have an admitted company that will write you. When they don't call back I usually find out that some rookie Farmers agent wrote it.

I don't have any experience selling for AAA but I have a lot of experience competing against them and being very successful. To make it long term in this business you have to offer more to your customers than just one choice. As an independent agent you have the ability to offer your clients and pro...

Basically you are looking to be a producer without having to produce new business. You will not find a position like this in a smaller agency. Bigger agencies will probably have a position for you reviewing policies and cross selling.

With two people your first year I think if your are around $500k in written premium you are doing pretty good. You will be able to get direct appointments with this kind of production from most companies. Once you start getting direct appointments (if you have not already) you will see your producti...
