Re: How do agents handle credit scoring?

If, when your quotation is run an adverse action has taken place, the insurance company is required to provide the source of the data for the action, such as Equifax, and contact info. You then have the opportunity to get any issues resolved and ask for a re-run of the quotation. If, you have insura...

Re: How do agents handle credit scoring?

KPIA, I would agree with that. Kansas just passed a significant bill. It allows companies to NOT re-run insurance scores at renewal. I can tell you that companies do not want to punish people for the economy. They do not want to re-run scores at every renewal. Kansas Lawmakers Add Exemptions to Insu...

Re: How do agents handle credit scoring?

Well, To answer you, for #1, I can and have pulled the credit model from the dept's of Insurance many times AND the companies have provided all rating factor, underwriting, and policy form materials as well as credit model to me. I've done this for State Farm, Farmers (my auto company), Progressive,...

Re: Arizona Photo Radar Tickets

In Missouri, Photo tickets are a municipal offense and not applicable to MVR. All photo violations were just dismissed in a state case (brought by a law enforcement officer I think). Reason - there was no process for appeal. I recently was charged for one such offense and was NOT EVEN IN THE STATE a...

Re: How do agents handle credit scoring?

I have to say, Griping and moaning are not constructive. First of all, the NY DOI has oversight of such models and they are NOT at the whim of some cigar smoking fat cat idiot just looking to fuel a 200' yacht. Next, it is not credit profiling but insurance scoring. FYI, insurance scoring is a prove...

Re: How do agents handle credit scoring?

If you use a comparative rater, the bureaus force the rater to pull as separate score for each company, or if realtime, or scraping (UGGH! You know who you are), the company runs it in the background. Brenda H is wrong in that companies still do force agents to sign up with companies like Choicepoin...

Do what the other Farmers and State Farm people do, let your spouse become an agent and get the appointment, then open an office next door!

Re: Two unrelated entities as named insured?

What is funny to me and smacks me right in the face: One of the individuals is an attorney. Now if this guy doesn't understand that an insurance policy is a contract and how to read it, there is no way in hell I would write a policy for him. Oh, and there is the fact that, ... he's an attorney! Like...

Re: Looking for specific quoting software

This is what you find in management systems and raters alike: they bundle the data into a set ACORD tar ball and send it off. Regardless of the requirements of the carrier, they just send it. Every carrier is different and has different requirements for a minimum set of data. Sooo.... What you will ...

Re: Castle Inspections / High value inspections in general

I hear about this happening a lot lately. The issue is replacement cost and with the economy, value of the dollar (imported building materials), scarcity of certain materials, etc, replacement cost is going up up up. The Greenburg F5 replacement costs were typically 20% higher than estimated replace...

Re: Healthcare Reform

There are at least three major issues: One, should government be involved in dictating health care. Good or bad we all have opinions. Two, health insurance reform. This involves cheaper ways of doing medical billing, paperless systems, etc. There are significant savings, up to 30% or more that can b...

Re: Healthcare Reform

Kevin is right.... Don't forget, Healthcare is a privilege and the Constitution of the United States provides that we all have fair and undiscriminatory access. Healthcare is NOT a right nor is a coverage allowed to be provided by the Federal government under our Constitution, this is a states right...

Re: Looking to buy used CPCU study materials

For a binding contract, the contract must be legit. This sounds like they have created an ethical dilemma to get around the first sale doctrine. That in my opinion would negate the terms. Lots of people create funky contract stuff, its what sticks that counts. I've found judges seem to take a very d...

Re: I'm a Mac

Scott, Its all in what you want out of your experience. We usually only buy Dell. Yes, the support is TOTALLY HORRIBLE... the trade off is that we usually pay less than half for MS as we would Apple, AND get much better hardware. As an expert heavy user, the price and hardware is more important than...

Re: Agency Management System

You may have set on the agent council. I hear the other end of the issue where the companies complain about the costs. I can tell you that for some companies, ooooh say AIG and other huge companies it is not an issue. For other smaller regional companies it is a HUGE issue. We did a study with one p...
