Re: CIC Designation
Also, make your answers exactly what the question is asking for. Most only need a short answer of a few lines. Your grammer and punctuation do not have to be perfect. They also ask for a lot of lists. One of the best tricks is if they ask for a list of six items, answer with eight. Even if some are ...

Re: CIC Designation
The two previous responses are spot on. There is no need to study before the classes, but pay closes attention during and make lots of flashcards each night on what was covered. The NAIA books are great, but not necessarily course specific. They cover a wide-range of industry topics. For a person in...

Re: How do you become a CIC instructor?
You don't have to be a CIC, or a CRM for that matter, but I'm sure it helps. What you do have to have is a long, positive history in the industry and an obvious expertise. Every one of my National Alliance proctors had reasonably impressive resumes. I'm sure if you were to contact them, they would t...

Re: Conflict of Interest
Why not put the business in their current agency as the writing agent? It would get them some experience in handling the sales side without the conflict. They obviously have asperations to have their own shop someday, but not the guts at this time, so this would be a good middle road.

50/50 NB, 40/60 renewals in my office. In your example, I think 60/40 producer/house would be more fair thank what you're considering.

Re: Insurance Noodle vs. Superior Access vs. Agent Secure
Who the heck are you dealing with that gets you great customer service at Noodle? I know that in the industry it's nearly impossible to get replies and help from wholesalers/underwriters in general, but in my experience, Noodle is by FAR the worst. Hardly ever a response. Not enough employees. If yo...

Re: Need some help with my car insurance dilema
Man, being a 19 year-old male AND in NJ you (and your parents) are in for a terrible surprise. I've never been to NJ, but have still heard nothing but horror stories. Get a bus pass or a second job my friend. I hear the Insurance Industry's hiring. Seriously though, I would advise to always be up-fr...

Re: Attorney considering CPCU- thoughts?
I've also seen some corporate Risk Management departments that answer to Legal. Not very often, but it's there. The CRM program is great for learning the basics, but the ARM (Associate in Risk Management) from the AICPCU is more well known, better respected, and will open some doors. You can find ou...
Re: Loss Runs
You can find any company's contact info at ambest.com. Call them with the policy number and they'll give you the fax number to send the (signed by client) "loss history request form." The form should have the client's email and fax number for the returned loss runs. This is by far the fast...

Re: Career Change to Life Insurance from P&C Commercial
First of all, "Final Expense" Insurance sounds like a VERY small policy and a great rule for sales is don't sweat the small stuff. You're going to be spending close to the same amount of time closing a $15K burial policy as you would a $5mil term. Why waste your time? Second, whatever your...

Good luck to you. Fifteen years is a long time, but you obviously have the will, so I would say go for it... and take your beatings and the hoops the State makes you jump through with a smile.

Re: CRM Courses, OK to take Control of Risk first
I am a CIC, and have completed four of the 5 required CRM courses. I know there's a lot of talk about the two tests being so different, but I don't see it. If you've been successful in CIC, you'll do fine with CRM... you know what to expect. The National Alliance suggests that you take Analysis befo...
