Special Event Coverage Needed

Postby SFOInsuranceLady » Mon Dec 03, 2007 2:49 pm

Can anyone tell me where I can possibly find coverage for a weddding event that won't cost my clients a minimum premium of $300. or more? I have a client in CA that is having a very small outdoor wedding in Berkeley with only 50 people attending (ceremony only). The City and County is asking for $1M/$2M limits. Weddings can be costly, but $300. for a 30 minute ceremony seems a bit high. I have asked about a dozen E & S brokers but they are all so high ($300 - $750 MP). Anyone know of any HO carriers that could include this? Thanks!!

Liability coverage for wedding

Postby lauren » Tue Dec 04, 2007 11:49 am

Isn't this already covered by the host's homeowner's liability? I don't know of any Homeowner's exclusion for weddings.

Lauren is exactly right. The event is covered by their homeowners policy. If they need higher limits, sell them a personal umbrella. The only way you run into problems is if the venue insists upon being named as additional insured. The homeowners carrier, in all likelihood, will not agree to do so and that's what will force your client to purchase a special event policy.

Thanks for all of your help! I ended up getting a quote with RV Nuccio & Assoc. (thanks, Intlxs!). $95. for $1M & 2M coverage with the A/I option included. I don't think that there is a Homeowner carrier out there that would include the A/I endorsement......but this is great, thanks! This is such a small ceremony, too.....

I think your after more then your typical coverage that a good HO-3 policy would pick up on. This assuming the HO-3 GL is $1,000,000 with no exclusions. So Travelers has a great program and inexpensive without a direct appointment. Or you could the appointment with 300,000 premium comment.
Its better to ask forgiveness then permission
(just do it)

Travelers Personal Insurance has a great wedding/event policy. It gives you the ability to select the amount of liability, cancel/postpone, add expense, photo/video, event gifts, special atire, special jewelry, and lost deposits that is needed for the event. :D

Glad you found coverage to fit this small wedding for $95. If you have any larger events please note a wedding product I have per the attached flyer with a premium of $295.

Had my wedding a little while back and during the course of events my car insurance agent mentioned wedding insurance. Did not even know this was avail. Long story short, price was relatively cheap compared to wedding and had an extra piece of mind. Thanks for the help John. Check'em out at http://www.mvragency.com/wedding-insurance.html
Appreciate it.
