Auto Liability basics

I am currently working for an insurance company that specializes in insurance for commercial accounts. I'm the receptionist so I really don't do much. I would like to take on more responsibility but here you do not get respect without a liscense. My boss will pay for my classes but I don't know the first thing about insurance. From what I hear we deal with general liability, fiduciary liability, d&o, life, commercial auto, and workers comp. Also we have a dental department. Before I go into my classes I would like to know the basics is there a place online that can help me, or a book I can pick up somewhere? Thanks for the help guys.

you are with an insurance agency, not an insurance company. you learn it by doing it. start with the classes. no reason not to, if your boss will pay. the classes are the basics. you begin there. it takes experience, and years of it. it never stops. start asking other co-workers if you can help out. you start with policy checking, because that's always fun. ask for a checklist, so you know what you are looking for.

RE: request for definitions from posters online. Read an insurance policy. All the definitions are there. Then take your boss up on the class. It is structured to help you learn.

Property Damage Limit
Medical Payments Limit
Uninsured/Under insured Motorist Bodily Injury
Liability Coverage means what?



Uninsured Motorist Property Damage would be what ?
Comprehensive Coverage & Deductibles are?
Collision Coverage & Deductibles
Emergency Road Service Limits ?
Rental Car Limits ? (Does this mean they give you a rental car ?)
Customized Parts and Equipment Coverage Limits means what?
Loan/Lease Gap Coverage is what kind of thing?
