New York authorities have charged a Niagara Falls man with larceny and insurance fraud, accusing him of collecting $82,000 from workers compensation over 13 years while self-employed.
Inspector General Catherine Leahy Scott says 55-year-old James Reagle is accused of making $370,000 in earnings while claiming he wasn’t working in any capacity.
According to investigators, Reagle began receiving workers’ compensation benefits based on a 1990 injury while employed at a Lockport, New York, plastics company. He was self-employed from 2001 through 2014 recycling wooden pallets.
Reagle pleaded not guilty in Niagara Falls City Court. He’s due back in court Jan. 28.
