The Role
WTW is seeking a highly analytical and technically skilled individual to join our Risk & Analytics team as a
Physical Climate & Natural Catastrophe Risk Consultant
. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in engineering, science, or analytics who are passionate about applying their expertise to real-world climate and catastrophe risk challenges.You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of experts in insurance, science, and engineering to deliver cutting-edge risk assessments and consulting services to corporate clients across the U.S. and globally. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative projects that span industries and geographies, with a focus on catastrophe risk engineering and climate resilience.
The primary objectives are to support the Risk & Analytics team in advancing the catastrophe and climate risk management business in the US (primary focus) and globally. This includes providing assessments focused on catastrophe risk engineering, as well as leveraging RMS (Risk Management Solutions) models and other recognized catastrophe risk models in the insurance market, specifically for consulting projects delivered to WTW’s corporate clients.
We are open to hiring at a more junior level depending on the candidate’s experience.
The Responsibilities
- Conduct catastrophe risk engineering assessments and modeling analyses for corporate clients.
- Utilize and interpret outputs from catastrophe models (e.g., RMS, AIR, RQE, KatRisk).
- Support innovation in risk assessment where standard models or tools are unavailable.
- Evaluate property insurance portfolios and support climate-related financial disclosures across diverse asset types, including operational and construction-phase projects.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations to support insurance and risk decisions.
- Present findings to internal stakeholders and external clients.
- Perform data quality checks, hazard exposure analyses, and probabilistic modeling, ensuring results are robust and well-understood.
- Assist in business development, create proposals, and outline scope of work documents.
Qualification and Experience
- Strong academic background in engineering preferred (mechanical, civil, or structural preferred), science, mathematics, or a related field are also relevant.
- Solid understanding of catastrophe and probabilistic modeling principles.
- Experience with catastrophe risk engineering, including Probable Maximum Loss (PML) assessments and risk mitigation strategies.
- Proficiency with catastrophe modeling platforms such as RMS, AIR, RQE, or KatRisk.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools and languages such as SQL, R, and GIS.
- Experience in the insurance industry and understanding of policy structures is a plus.
- Ability to communicate complex technical and financial concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Strong leadership, presentation, and business development skills.

Compensation and Benefits
Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance in the role and potential for revenue generation (Producer roles only).
Compensation
The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $100,000 - $200,000 USD per year. This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus.
