Insurance Data Engineer

Presurance Holdings, Inc., a publicly traded property & casualty insurance holding company, currently has an open position for an experienced Data Analyst with strong data management, analysis and reporting skills. This role would incorporate a combination of insurance IT systems knowledge data analytics experience. The candidate is expected to learn the various Presurance IT Data Interfaces and will work closely with other IT data analysts, actuaries, accountants, underwriters and claims personnel.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work closely with a highly experienced team of P&C insurance executives to provide analytical data support for underwriting and actuarial analysis of the Company's insurance programs and evaluate strategic opportunities
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of the data architecture and an understanding of the insurance lines of business.
  • Perform data mining and reporting to generate data calls and assist the Senior Actuary and CFO to:
    • perform actuarial analyses on underwriting performance including loss characteristic evaluations, pricing, catastrophe risk cost analysis, reserve analysis and ad hoc reporting; and
    • evaluate profitability of existing lines of business.

  • Contribute to data standards best practices; communicate standards to proprietary software development stakeholders.
  • Investigate new tools and techniques; collaborate on software evaluations.


Candidate Qualities & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline or equivalent expertise
  • Knowledge in the following areas: IT concepts, strategies and methodologies; IT architectures and data standards; data design and tools
  • Understanding of T-SQL and SSMS fundamentals: CTEs and window functions, stored procedures and views, multi-step staging logic, and troubleshooting of joins
  • Ability to take ownership of existing production queries and stored procedures, trace data lineage from the policy administration system through staging to final reporting output, and validate results against control totals
  • Broad knowledge of various insurance products and lines of business is a significant plus
  • Comfortable with a network environment. Curious and capable of learning and applying knowledge to develop new IT processes to assist with business growth and efficiency improvements.
  • Light coding for effecting constant improvements of existing processes through automation.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to set and achieve deadlines and objectives.


Total Compensation

  • Base salary: $95,000 to $115,000 per year
