Maritime General Agency

Maritime General Agency formed a new business identity, which it said “combines three niche marine insurance underwriting facilities — Maritime Program Group; Maritime General Agency, Marine MGA, and Windward Marine Underwriters — into one managing general agency.”

Maritime General Agency and Marine MGA were founded in the 1990s. Windward Marine Underwriters was added in 2002. “Each of these related companies specialized and excelled in different aspects of marine insurance,” the company explained.

The consolidation solidifies Maritime Program Group as a large program underwriter of recreational marine insurance. The firm is also a provider of inland and ocean marine insurance, and has a private client services division to serve the affluent.
