James Kilduff

James Kilduff has joined Brown & Brown Re Inc. and will be responsible for the company’s new Florida operation based in Palm Beach Gardens.

Brown & Brown Re is the wholly owned reinsurance brokerage subsidiary of Brown & Brown Inc. and provides customized reinsurance programs to treaty and facultative clients utilizing a vast network of reinsurance companies worldwide, specializing in all forms of casualty, property, professional and finite reinsurance coverage.

Headquartered in New York City, the subsidiary also has offices in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. and Princeton, N.J.

Marita Zuraitis

Allmerica Financial Corporation named Marita Zuraitis president of Allmerica’s property and casualty companies.

As president, Zuraitis will be responsible for the personal and commercial lines operations at Citizens Insurance Company of America, The Hanover Insurance Company and their affiliates. Zuraitis also will serve as a member of the company’s operating committee.

Zuraitis comes to Allmerica from St. Paul Travelers where she played a key role in the formation of the company through the merger of The St. Paul Companies and Travelers Property and Casualty. Since 1998, she served as president and CEO of St. Paul’s commercial lines division, responsible for the company’s small commercial, middle market, and large property and casualty solutions business units, including field operations.

Zuraitis currently serves as chairman of the board of NCCI Holdings Inc., a provider of workers’ compensation data analytics based in Boca Raton, Fla., and as a board member of the Baltimore-based American Skyline Insurance.

Evan Greenberg

The board of directors of ACE Ltd. elected its president, Evan Greenberg, to the additional post of CEO effective May 27.

Greenberg was formerly a top executive at American International Group and is the son of AIG CEO Hank Greenberg. Greenberg’s career at ACE began when he joined the company in 2001 to run its reinsurance group. In 2002 he took over all of ACE’s international operations and has run the company on a day-to-day basis as chief operations officer since June 2003.

Ken Riegler

ACE USA, the U.S.-based retail operations of the ACE Group of Companies, announced the appointment of Ken Riegler as senior vice president of national business development and client services for ACE Risk Management (ARM).

He will have overall responsibility for sales, marketing, broker management and product development for ARM. Riegler will be based in New York City and will report to William Curcio, president of ACE Risk Management.

Riegler most recently served as senior vice president, National Excess Workers Compensation for ARM.

Beverly Johnson

MarketScout, an e-commerce company specializing in the distribution of property and casualty insurance products, announced Beverly Johnson, formerly of Risc Inc., joined the company.

Johnson will interface with MarketScout agents who have business that does not align with one of the MarketScout “Best of Class” verticals and requires an open market or E&S placement. Johnson has over 26 years of underwriting and marketing experience.

MarketScout is a subsidiary of Insurance Data Systems (IDS), a Dallas-based insurance e-commerce holding company. MarketScout selects a “Best of Class” insurance company for each of its 400 plus industry segments. More than 50 major insurance companies have adopted the MarketScout model.

Bradley Wilson, president of Florida-based North American Liability Group, announced that Harry MacGregor, CEO of Baird Macgregor Insurance Brokers Inc., has agreed to join the Board of Directors.

MacGregor has extensive experience in implementing and managing infrastructure to manage self-insured retention programs. MacGregor’s expertise includes implementation of attendant statistical analysis, program design, market place assessment, negotiation of terms and conditions, cash management, appointment and supervision of local control adjusters, management reporting, reserve setting, claims settlement, statistical tracking, production of claims bordereaux and ongoing risk management services.

MacGregor will be responsible for strategic and governance direction for NALG and its International Exchange Programs.

Baird MacGregor Insurance Brokers Inc., based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, offers an array of both domestic and international insurance and risk management systems.

The Maryland Office of Attorney General has appointed J. Van Lear Dorsey as deputy counsel in the Maryland Insurance Administration.

Dorsey previously served as senior counsel for the state’s environmental agency.

The National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA) has elected new officers to serve one-year terms to begin on Oct. 1, 2004 to Sept. 30, 2005.

Ray Peretti of Renton, Wash. was elected president-elect; Donna Pile of Lexington, Ken. was elected vice president; and Robert Page of Houma, La. was elected secretary/treasurer.

Peretti is currently serving a term as vice president, Pile is the association’s current secretary/treasurer and Page is chairman of the PIA National Federal Affairs Committee.

Also on Oct. 1, current PIA President-elect Terry Adams of Ashland, Ore. will become president and current PIA President Carl Stoecklin of Cincinnati, Ohio will become immediate past president.

All officers will be officially installed in their new positions during the fall PIA Board meeting in Orlando, Fla. on Sept. 12, 2004.
