Insurance broker Marsh has added five industry veterans – four from competing broker Aon – to its private equity and mergers and acquisitions practice. James O’Brien, Jason Hawkins and Craig Warnke join Marsh as managing directors, and Jim Beatty and Machua Millett join as senior vice presidents.

O’Brien comes to Marsh after 18 years with Aon, where he most recently led the Private Equity and Transaction Solutions group. He began his insurance career as a management liability underwriter at AIG. Hawkins joins Marsh from Aon, where he most recently served as a senior advisor in the private equity group. He has more than 20 years of experience advising private equity, hedge fund and Fortune 500 companies on management liability and general partnership liability (GPL) programs. He had also held underwriting position with The Hartford and AIG. Warnke also joins Marsh from Aon, where he most recently served as a transactional advisor in the private equity group. Warnke has seven years of experience in transactional insurance products, including representations and warranties and tax liability insurance, in addition to advising private equity firms and hedge funds on their GPL programs. Beatty most recently served as a client advisor in the private equity group at Aon. He has 10 years of experience in advising private equity and hedge fund clients in their management liability and GPL programs. Millett joins Marsh from the law firm of Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge, where he served as coverage and defense counsel for directors and officers, general partners, financial institutions, insurers and corporations in a wide variety of industries. He will serve as a senior advisory specialist and GPL product leader. O’Brien, Hawkins, Warnke and Beatty will be based in New York while Millett will be based in Boston.

Commonwealth Automobile Reinsurers, which oversees Massachusetts’ residual market for auto insurance, has appointed two members to its governing committee. The new committee members are Joseph P. Leahy Jr., a principal of Leahy & Brown Insurance and Realty in Springfield, and Marie-Armel Theodat, principal of R. Theodat Insurance Agency Inc. in Dorchester. Each has been appointed to a six-year term.

Pennsylvania-based GUARD Insurance Group has bolstered its sales staff focusing on the New Jersey and New York. Gary May has been named senior field representative for New Jersey and southern New York. May brings over 25 years industry experience to GUARD, and his background encompasses similar positions at Travelers, Selective, St. Paul and Aetna. A.J. DeLucca has been given the added responsibility of upstate New York. DeLucca joined GUARD in 2001, serving in both inside and field sales capacities while holding various positions of increasing responsibility and scope

Anya Kutsina has been named managing director of U.S. RE Analytics, a subsidiary of U.S. RE Cos. Inc. Kutsina has served as head of sales and marketing at Ultimate Risk Solutions (URS) for the last eight years and will continue in that position. Kutsina began her insurance career in 1998 as an actuary at Guy Carpenter & Co. and held positions with Aon Re and Swiss Re in New York.

Virginia-based Argo Group has promoted Ron Vindivich to senior vice president for transportation underwriting for Colony Specialty. Vindivich will develop the strategy of a soon-to-be combined garage, brokerage transportation and binding transportation organization.Vindivich has more than 20 years of experience at Chubb, Kemper and CNA. He joined Colony in July 2006 as vice president of underwriting for the industrial casualty division, and in August 2008 became the vice president of brokerage casualty at the firm.

U.K.-based insurer Beazley has hired Max Perkins as an underwriter in its Technology, Media, & Business Services team in Philadelphia. He formerly served an executive underwriter for national accounts at ACE Ltd. and professional liability underwriter at AIG.
