David J. Bresnahan has been named president of Lexington Insurance Co., the surplus lines unit of Chartis Insurance. He is succeeding Peter Eastwood, who is moving into his new role as president and chief executive officer of Chartis for the United States and Canada region. Most recently, Bresnahan was the executive vice president of Lexington’s casualty, healthcare, and programs divisions. He joined Lexington in 1999 as manager of the errors and omissions product line. In 2002, he was named vice president responsible for Lexington’s professional lines and construction business. In 2004, he was promoted to senior vice president, casualty division executive. Prior to joining Boston-based Lexington, Bresnahan held managerial positions at Executive Liability and New Hampshire Insurance Co. after joining Chartis in 1995. Bresnahan began his underwriting career in 1990 at Chubb Group.

Ohio-based independent broker Hylant Group has named industry Kimberly L. Riley as president of its Nashville, Tennessee office. Riley will be responsible for the overall management, direction and growth of the office. Riley brings 25 years of insurance experience to Hylant. She most recently served as the president for First Horizon Insurance Group and First Tennessee Insurance Services, property/casualty agencies in Nashville; both are subsidiaries of First Tennessee Bank. Previously, Riley was a vice president serving in various capacities for CNA Insurance Co. in Nashville. Riley also led the launch of Accelerent, a Nashville business development group. Hylant has 12 offices in Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Tennessee.

Insurance broker Marsh has named Ryan A. Barber to the newly created role of head of industry specialization within its U.S. property practice. Barber will be responsible for industry-based risk advisory and insurance placement strategies for various industries including health care, real estate and retail. Barber brings to Marsh 15 years of experience. After spending the first seven years of his career with Marsh, Barber worked at Willis as a senior property broker and business development specialist. Most recently, he served as co-leader of Integro’s U.S. property practice. He will be based in New York and report to Duncan Ellis, Marsh’s U.S. property practice leader.

Florida officials are filling out the board of governors for Citizens Property Insurance Corp. Florida Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater announced the appointments of Nancy Baily and Rob Wallace to the board. Baily is a former chair of the Florida Insurance Council with nearly 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. She most recently served as the president and CEO of Travelers of Florida. Currently, she is the executive director of the Florida Chapter of the ALS Association, a non-profit. Wallace is a former member of the Florida House of Representatives. He founded and serves as the president of the Environmental Engineering Consultants Inc., which assists property owners with engineering and environment risks.

House Speaker Dean Cannon (R-Winter Park) said that he is reappointing Carolos Lacasa and newcomer Christopher Gardner. Lacasa is a former state legislator who currently serves as vice president for Managed Care of North Florida. This is his second term on the board. Gardner is a shareholder with Kuykendall Gardner, an insurance broker located in Winter Park.

Senate President Mike Haridopolis (R-Melbourne) has reappointed board members Carol Everhart and Tom Lynch. Everhart is vice president of insurance services with the Tampa- based BB&T. She has been reappointed for a second term. Lynch is president of the Delray Beach-based Plastridge Insurance Agency.

Governor Rick Scott has yet to name his picks. By law, the governor, CFO, the Senate President, and Speaker of the House are allotted two board members.
