Jamie Durocher has been promoted to director of business development for Eau Claire, Wis.-based wholesale insurance firm, Scobie Group.

Durocher has held the position of marketing representative with Scobie Group since February 2011. In his new role, he will be responsible for the overall planning, organizing and execution of all marketing functions for the company.

Scobie Group is a family-owned company founded by Robert W. Scobie in 1932. Headquartered in Eau Claire, Wis., Scobie Group has branch offices in Minneapolis, Minn.; West Des Moines, Iowa; Omaha, Neb.; Waukesha, Wis.; New Albany, Ind.; and Arizona, and has approximately 110 employees.

Farrah Schubmehl joined the property practice group in the Chicago office of Swett & Crawford as a broker of specialty exposures.

Schubmehl has worked as an underwriter and broker in both the retail and wholesale segments of the insurance industry. She comes to Swett & Crawford from Willis North America where she placed coverage for complex property/catastrophe exposures in the United States and abroad.

She also previously served as assistant vice president of underwriting for Mid Continent Casualty Insurance in Tulsa, Okla., and as a production underwriting manager for Deep South Surplus of Tennessee, a managing general agency. Her career began in 1999 with Chubb Group where she served as an underwriter and practice leader for their property, machinery and marine practice.

Philadelphia Insurance Cos. promoted Sean Sweeney to president and chief operating officer; Robert O’Leary to executive vice president and chief marketing officer; and John Glomb to executive vice president and chief underwriting officer.

Sweeney began his insurance career as an account executive with Philadelphia Insurance in 1979. He worked his way up to become executive vice president and chief marketing officer, and then president and chief marketing officer. He holds CPCU, RPLU and ARe designations.

O’Leary started his insurance career in 1977 with American Mutual Insurance Co. He joined Philadelphia Insurance as a regional manager. He later was promoted to regional vice president of the Northeast region, senior vice president of the eastern territory and executive vice president of marketing.

Glomb joined Philadelphia Insurance in 2007 as senior vice president of the management and professional liability division. Prior to joining Philadelphia Insurance, Glomb worked at Banc of America Securities and at National Union, the management and professional liability subsidiary of American International Group.

Summit Reinsurance Services Inc. (Summit Re), based in Fort Wayne, Ind., added Vice President and Lead Reinsurance Underwriter Shaun Peterson to its executive staff. Peterson joins the Summit Re actuarial and underwriting team and will focus on provider excess-of-loss insurance and health plan excess-of-loss reinsurance.

Peterson is a former United Healthcare director of actuarial services. Prior to that, he was a senior executive with HCC as vice president for reinsurance and chief actuary for Perico Life Insurance Co. Peterson has extensive experience in both the insurance and reinsurance markets.

Summit Re is a managing underwriter, working exclusively with Swiss Re Corporate Solutions to provide medical excess-of-loss coverage to health plans, providers and insurers. Headquartered in Fort Wayne, Ind., the company also has offices in Minneapolis, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla., Charlotte, N.C., and Indianapolis, Ind.

Christopher Carlson has been appointed as chief actuarial officer at the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC). He has 32 years of insurance and actuarial experience. Carlson most recently served as consulting actuary for Pinnacle Actuarial Resources Inc., an actuarial and management consulting firm. He previously worked as actuarial officer for Nationwide Insurance.

Lola Dada-Olley joined the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission (IWCC) as deputy counsel. She has worked for Eli Lily, the Emmy Foundation, the Federal Communications Commission, the Illinois Attorney General’s Office and the Illinois Governor’s Office.

The IWCC also announced the appointments of three new workers’ compensation arbitrators.

William Gallagher has 35 years of experience as an attorney concentrating on workers’ compensation in Illinois and Missouri, both in solo practice and at Nichols Law Office. His term expires July 1, 2013. Gallagher will handle former Arb. Tobin’s call in Region 2 (Quincy, Springfield, and Urbana).

Douglas McCarthy has more than 30 years of experience as an attorney concentrating on workers’ compensation and Social Security disability law. His term expires July 1, 2013. McCarthy will be based in Chicago and will serve at large where needed.

Brandon Zanotti represented both petitioners and respondents at Feirich/Mager/Green/Ryan. He has clerked for Judge Joseph Leberman in the First Judicial Circuit Court and served as a congressional clerk to Sen. Dick Durbin. His term expires July 1, 2012. He will handle the Chicago “TBA” call formerly handled by Arb. Dollison.
