The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) appointed NAIC President and North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm to serve a two-year term as the state insurance commissioner representative on the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC).

The 15-member FSOC was created by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Protection and Consumer Protection Act in 2010 to monitor the safety and stability of the nation’s financial system, identify risks to the system, and coordinate a response to any threats.

Hamm replaces Missouri Insurance Director John M. Huff who is stepping down after serving two terms on the FSOC.

The council has the authority to identify financial firms, financial market utilities and systemic payment, clearing, or settlement activities whose failure could potentially pose a risk to the financial system.

Hylant has named former National Hockey League player Andrew Berenzweig president of its Toledo, Ohio, office.

Berenzweig assumes the role from Richard Hylant, who will remain active in the company and serve as executive vice president and a member of the board of directors.

Prior to being appointed president, Berenzweig served as client executive at Hylant for eight years. He previously played five years in the NHL.

Hylant has 14 offices across Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee and Florida.

Minneapolis, Minn.-based Twin City Group added Ben Greve as insurance sales associate. Greve’s role will be developing new commercial and personal lines business for the agency.

Prior to joining Twin City Group, Greve held similar positions at Insurance Planners and State Farm Insurance. Greve attended the University of Minnesota and played on the golf team which won the NCAA national title in 2002 and Big Ten titles in 2002 and 2003. After graduating in 2005, he competed on the PGA Tour Canada for seven seasons.

Stuart Henderson, president and CEO of Western National Insurance Group in Edina, Minn., has assumed the chairmanship of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC).

Henderson is a recipient of the Minnesota Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers Association’s “Insurance Executive of the Year” award in 2004. His efforts led to WNIG being named a “Top Workplace” by the Minneapolis Star Tribune, 2013-2014, and one of the 100 Best Places to Work by Minnesota Business Magazine in 2013. He also received the Minnesota Business Ethics Award in 2012.

Chicago, Ill.-based Berkley Fire and Marine Underwriters hired Chris Beckman as operations and risk management director. He is based in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Beckman most recently served as vice president of operations and risk management for a large national carrier. He has held home office risk control positions and has over 30 years of industry experience.

Independent insurance broker Lockton has added Account Executive Tom Gabriel and Senior Account Manager Lori Koslowski to the employee benefits team in its Milwaukee office.

Gabriel joins Lockton with more than 25 years of experience in the employee benefits’ arena. Most recently, he acted as a senior consultant at Laurus Strategies after building his insurance experience with WellPoint and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Wisconsin.

Koslowski brings with her more than 20 years of experience in employee benefits, data analysis, compensation, healthcare consulting, and account management. Prior to joining Lockton, Koslowski was at The Benefit Services Group.

Lansing, Mich.-based Accident Fund Holdings Inc. hired Said Taiym as chief information officer. Taiym joins the holding company’s executive team and is responsible for overseeing information technology solutions across the enterprise.

Taiym brings 15 years of experience in technology transformation associated with underwriting, discipline-specific enterprise enablement initiatives, distribution, pricing analytics and business intelligence. Prior to joining Accident Fund Holdings, he served as vice president of information technology at XL Group Services. He also held information technology management positions with Zurich North America Commercial, Accenture and State Farm Insurance.

Willis North America named Kevin Bur producer and vice president at Willis of Greater Kansas Inc.

Bur is responsible for business development within Willis’ human capital practice, helping organizations manage their human capital risk through strategic employee benefit programs. He will focus on aligning Willis’ global resources to serve clients throughout Kansas and Missouri.

Bur has 28 years of experience in the insurance industry. Prior to joining Willis, he was with Cigna Corp.
