Great American Insurance Group, based in Cincinnati, Ohio, promoted Lisa A. Hays to vice president and chief actuary of Great American’s Property and Casualty Group.

She will succeed John Doellman who is retiring in May.

Hays has more than 25 years of industry experience in the areas of pricing, reserving, reinsurance, product management, strategic planning, and predictive analytics. She is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.

Great American also hired Mellissa Carbone-Moser as divisional vice president within its Aviation Division. She will be responsible for the supervision and management of all aviation-related claims and litigation.

Carbone-Moser is an experienced aviation claims attorney, with 10 years of aviation claims experience. Previously, she worked for a large aviation insurance carrier in New Jersey and, prior to that, worked for several years in private practice handling complex medical malpractice lawsuits.

Amerisure Mutual Insurance Co., based in Farmington Hills, Mich., promoted Kimberly Vaughn to assistant vice president, workers’ compensation (WC) claims.

In her new role, Vaughn oversees the day-to-day operations of the WC claims department.

Vaughn began her career with Amerisure in 2013 as a corporate technical claims consultant.

Prior to joining Amerisure, she practiced law in the areas of WC as well as medical and dental malpractice.

Chicago-based CNA appointed Joel Townsend as senior vice president, Claim. He will be head of claims customer service for CNA’s global Management Liability, Financial Institutions and Technology business units.

Townsend previously served as senior vice president and worldwide specialty claims manager at Chubb where he was responsible for the management of high severity and high profile claims, development and execution of home office and field claim handling, reporting and authority protocols, and coordination with business partners on specialty claim trend identification.

Prior to joining Chubb, Townsend was a partner at Ross, Dixon & Masback LLP.

Guy Huntley joined QBE North America as senior vice president, Personal Insurance Underwriting, based in Chicago.

In this new role, Huntley, who has global insurance and HNW experience, will lead underwriting operations for QBE’s Personal Insurance business.

Huntley joins QBE from ACE Private Risk Services where he served as vice president, regional underwriting executive, for the Chicago Underwriting Center. Prior to ACE, Huntley was a senior underwriting director at Fireman’s Fund, and European regional manager and regional underwriting manager at AIG Private Client Group.

QBE NA also appointed Eric Shanks senior vice president, High Net Worth, responsibile for QBE North America’s personal insurance growth strategy focused on the high net worth (HNW) segment.

Shanks, based in San Francisco, has 25 years of insurance industry experience. He started his career at Chubb before moving to AIG Private Client Group, where he advanced to senior vice president of the Central Zone. Shanks then moved to Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. as senior vice president, Personal Insurance chief underwriting officer. Shanks was most recently vice president, Worldwide Signature segment manager at Chubb, overseeing a HNW customer segment with more than $1 billion in annual premium.

Itasca, Ill.-based Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. added Raymond Iardella as vice president, Investor Relations.

Iardella spent the last 13 years in various roles within the insurance, equity research and asset management industries. Most recently, he was an analyst at Surveyor Capital where he covered the insurance brokers and underwriters.

Previously, he held senior insurance analyst sell-side roles at both Macquarie Capital (USA) and Oppenheimer & Company. He began his insurance career at American International Group.

Alper Services, headquartered in Chicago, added Matt Unertl as business development associate.

With 11 years of experience in the industry, Unertl most recently worked as a producer at a large international insurance broker where he designed and implemented cost-sustainable employee benefits programs for mid-market organizations. At Alper, he will identify, develop and manage client business relationships and collaborate with the Alper team of experts to construct comprehensive risk management solutions.
