Terry Miller has been appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer at Bloomington, Minn.-based SFM Mutual Insurance Co.

Miller was the company’s original controller. He rose through the ranks in his 30-plus years at SFM to become vice president of accounting, vice president of finance, and then senior vice president and CFO.

Miller is a certified public accountant and chartered financial analyst. He’s also a member of the Minnesota State Society of CPAs, the American Institute of CPAs, the CFA Institute and the Insurance Accounting and Systems Association.

He serves on the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies Accounting Issues Committee and the Insurance Federation of Minnesota’s Tax Committee as well as the board of directors for Small Sums, a St. Paul, Minnesota-based nonprofit.

SFM provides workers’ compensation insurance in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota.

Rick Morgan, a technology and marketing expert in the independent agency channel, joined Work At Home Vintage Experts (WAHVE) as senior vice president of marketing.

WAHVE, formed in 2010, is a network of insurance professionals phasing into retirement who work remotely on a contract basis for insurance firms.

Morgan, who served on WAHVE’s advisory board from its inception until 2014, also helped guide WAHVE in his most recent role as senior vice president of Aartrijk, a marketing firm specializing in the insurance industry.

At Aartrijk since 2008, and with his own consulting firm, Morgan has served as advisor for the independent agency system focusing on technology, social media and marketing.

Great American Insurance Group hired F. Michael Csorba as divisional president within the Property and Casualty Group’s Ocean Marine division.

Csorba is succeeding John Rowney, who is retiring after nearly 28 years of service with the company.

Csorba joins Great American from International Marine Underwriters (IMU) where he served as vice president of the hull and liability product lines.

Csorba serves as the chairman of the Inland Hull, Fishing and Yacht Committee for the International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI).

Additionally, he served on the board of directors for the American Institute of Marine Underwriters and also as the chair of the Hull Committee. He also served as a representative for the Water Quality Insurance Syndicate.

Chicago-based CNA appointed Mike Wikoff as assistant vice president, management liability zone leader for the Central Zone, which includes the Arkansas, Austin, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Minneapolis and Oklahoma branches.

Wikoff joins CNA from Chubb, where he held territory management roles over the past 12 years in both financial institutions and management liability.

National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA) named Jane Crispen of the Knight Insurance Group in Ohio as the 2016 PIA National Customer Service Representative (CSR) of the Year. The award was sponsored by The Hartford.

The PIA National CSR of the Year award is given annually to an outstanding customer service representative who works for a PIA member insurance agency. Nominations for this award are made by PIA members.

The award recognizes a CSR who has improved operations of the agency, served their clients in a unique or extraordinary way and engaged in community involvement and activities to advance the betterment of the insurance industry.

PIA National also named Ryan Von Haden, partner and vice president of Business Accounts with TRICOR insurance in Madison, Wis., as the 2016 PIA National Young Insurance Professional of the Year.

Von Haden has been heavily involved in PIA of Wisconsin (PIAW) and was chairman of the PIAW Young Professionals Club for six years. During that time, he took a fledgling scholarship program that was happy to award one $500 scholarship to a young student — and turned it into a single day golf outing that provides up to $25,000 annually in scholarships, to deserving students who are pursuing a career in the insurance industry.

Ryan Von Haden is the son of PIA of Wisconsin Executive Vice President Ron Von Haden, who has dedicated more than four decades of his life to serving PIA.

The PIA National Young Insurance Professional of the Year award recognizes outstanding achievement by a young insurance professional.
