Monarch E&S Insurance Services has opened a second San Diego County, Calif., office, this one in San Marcos, and named new employees to work out of the office.
The employees are: Michelle Mitchell, senior underwriter/broker; Janet Tharp, senior underwriter/broker; Dayna Herron, underwriter/broker; Chrissy Hellman, senior underwriting assistant; and Kristen Don, senior underwriting assistant.
The San Marcos branch will work in conjunction with the existing Mission Valley office.
Marisela Valencia will serve as branch manager of both San Diego offices.
Monarch is a managing general agency, excess and surplus line and wholesale brokerage firm.
EPIC Insurance Brokers and Consultants named Jake Perata an insurance broker/producer for the firm’s Sacramento, Calif.-based golf insurance services practice.
EPIC also named Liz Miller a senior communications consultant in its employee benefits division.
Perata is responsible for new business development and the design and management of insurance and risk management programs for golf industry clients. He will report to Gary Siegel, senior vice president of golf insurance services.
Perata was with the Hartford in San Francisco prior to EPIC. He previously worked as a business development specialist at Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.
Miller will be based in EPIC’s San Francisco headquarters and report to John Gaffney, director of national benefits operations.
Miller joins EPIC from Zenefits. She previously worked for Aon Hewitt. Miller was a business owner, and worked as a behavioral therapist.
EPIC is a retail property/casualty and employee benefits insurance brokerage and consulting firm.
Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Cos. has named Traci Herring a senior field representative in Northern California.
Herring is responsible for identifying prospects for appointments. She also functions as agents’ field liaison with Berkshire Hathaway GUARD’s underwriting, loss control and claims staff.
Herring has extensive experience with underwriting, sales and partnership building.
In October 2012, GUARD Insurance Group was acquired by National Indemnity Co., which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway. In 2013, GUARD unveiled a new identity as Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Cos.
Ironshore Inc. named Tara Houvenagle wholesale West branch executive for the Western region.
Houvenagle, who is based in Ironshore’s St. Louis, Mo., office, will report to Joseph L. Boren, president of U.S. field operations.
In her additional role as branch executive, Houvenagle will be responsible for distribution strategies for the wholesale business in the Western U.S.
Houvenagle has more than 12 years of experience as a specialty underwriter in the casualty insurance industry. She joined Ironshore in 2009 as a senior production specialist, focusing on excess, umbrella and general liability lines. She was named casualty manager for the wholesale West region in 2014.
Houvenagle was with AIG WorldSource in Houston, Texas, prior to joining Ironshore. There she was responsible for primary casualty business lines, including general liability, workers’ compensation and foreign liability package programs.
Ironshore provides broker-sourced specialty property/casualty insurance coverages for varying risks.
RIC Insurance General Agency Inc. named Gary Dahl its personal lines manager.
Dahl will be based at RIC’s Reno, Nev., office and will report to Jeff Gans, chief operating officer.
Dahl has more than 30 years of personal lines experience. He has worked for Capital Insurance Group, GEICO, Hartford, Harley Davidson Insurance Agency and Sentry Insurance.
Santa Rosa, Calif.-based RIC is a wholesale insurance agency.
Alliant Insurance Services Inc. has named Jennifer Umbright to its Sacramento, Calif., office of as a workers’ compensation claims advocate within the company’s Alliant Americas division.
Umbright will advise a portfolio of middle-market clients throughout Northern California.
Umbright’s claims experience includes self-insured claims, captives and guaranteed cost policies. Umbright was a claims management consultant with ESM Solutions Inc. prior to Alliant. She also worked with Travelers Insurance on AOE/COE investigation, subrogation and litigation management.
Newport Beach, Calif.-based Alliant provides property/casualty, workers’ compensation, employee benefits, surety, and financial products and services.
