The New Jersey Young Insurance Professionals held its annual Fun Run last week during the Professional Insurance Agents of New Jersey Inc.’s annual business conference, raising a record high of nearly $80,000 for Special Olympics New Jersey.
“The event sponsor was FMI, which donated approximately $35,000 to the charity,” said a PIANJ bulletin. “Other major sponsors and contributors of the event, which took place on the Boardwalk by Bally’s Park Place, Atlantic City, were ARI, Selective, Harleysville, The Ronan Agency, Jimcor, Cumberland Insurance, Mercer Mutual, PMA Insurance, and the McMahon Agency.” Over the past 18 years, NJ YIP’s have raised more than $1.4 million for Special Olympics of New Jersey.
Mary Grace McHenry from Harleysville with a time of 20:09 finished first in the Women’s division of the 5 kilometer race, and Kevin Clausen from The Princeton Agency was timed at 19:15 to win the men’s division.
Second place in the women’s division went to Jeanne Konovich from the PMA Insurance Group with a time of 21:54; Jim O’Neil from Harleysville placed second with a time of 20:26. More than 80 people attended the event to cheer on the 120 participants. The record amount raised surpassed last year’s contribution of $48,000.
