The Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) today released the following statement by President and CEO Carolyn Scanlan in response to today’s announcement by Governor-elect Rendell to the creation of a Medical Malpractice Liability Task Force.
“Hospitals and health systems are pleased to be a part of the new Task Force to work on solutions to the medical liability issue in Pennsylvania. While we have made progress this year in changing our medical liability laws, more needs to be done. Our physicians and hospitals need short-term financial relief and longer term system changes,” Scanlan said.
“HAP is pleased to see Governor-elect Rendell take this issue head on and we look forward to working with him and other task force stakeholders to find solutions that will maintain access to care for our citizens.”
