NYMAGIC Affiliate to Write EPLI

NYMAGIC, INC announced that its insurance subsidiary, Gotham Insurance Company, has commenced writing Employment Practices Liability Insurance through Chicago, Illinois based Edgewater Holding, Ltd.

“Edgewater was formed in 1991 and is dedicated solely to the underwriting of EPLI business. Edgewater’s president, Mark Kollar, is well known in the insurance industry and has over 25 years of experience in property casualty underwriting and has given numerous lectures and presentations on this class of business,” said the bulletin. The program is targeting risks of up to 1,000 employees and will be offered in 45 states. NYMAGIC’s chairman and CEO George R. Trumbull stated, “One of the linchpins of the new program is an internet-based executive training program. The cost of the training program, which is provided by Comply America, Inc., also of Chicago, is included in the premium.”

Kollar remarked, “Management awareness of the issues relating to discrimination and harassment is essential to good loss control. The best claim is the one that is never brought but, even when claims are brought, clearly defined management procedures are important in mitigating damages.”
